Village Staff Helps Warms the Hearts and Heads of Seniors

Seniors in Cleveland always have a warm, safe and loving place to spend their days at the Eliza Bryant Village Inez Myers Senior Outreach & Adult Day Care Program. On January 8,2 019, the seniors who attend this wonderful program received not only the usual kind welcome and entertaining activities, they received a special gift hand-made and delivered by their nurse, Denise M. Denise handcrafted more than 20 individually tailored hats and ear warmers for her program participants and delivered them as surprise Bingo prizes.

The holiday season is stressful for people all ages, professions and for many different reasons. This year, Denise decided to take on a new hobby – one that relaxed her, challenged her and brought her joy by sharing her finished projects with those she cares about – including our program participants.

She explained her inspiration for this thoughtful gift saying,

“I was walking a participant to the bus on her way home in late December and I asked her where her hat was. I wanted to help her put it on before we walked outside. She told me she didn’t have a hat. I knew I had to do something to change that. I went home and spent my downtime over the holidays relaxing and crochet as many warm and cozy hats as my beginner fingers would allow!”

Eliza Bryant Village has been providing quality care to seniors in greater Cleveland for more than 122 years.
